Like everyone, the partners at NOVO Health are adapting to these times as best we can. The “new normal” is evolving and yet to be defined, but let’s insist that kindness be part of any definition.

Fertility services were originally considered non-essential, creating a lot of questions, concerns, and emotions for our clients. One of the nurses took it upon herself to reach out to each and every client to discuss recommendations and address any concerns. When the recommendations were updated, she continued calls to those same clients so they were kept abreast of any changes..

One of my patients is a sweet soon to be 90-year-old woman who lives alone with no family and is currently self-quarantined due to health reasons. She is normally quite active in the community serving others; therefore, as a result, she has been blessed with a bevy of friends. One of her friends reached out to many individuals in this woman’s life, including me – her physical therapist – to coordinate her receiving a surprise onslaught of.birthday cards arriving to her house on her 90th birthday! .

The new CDC recommendation had come out on the news for everyone to wear masks, so I had made a couple for co-workers as a fun project. I stopped in the clinic on my way through, talked with a couple more co-workers, and asked about our own mask stock..I went home and haven’t stopped sewing since..These are my friends, they’re my work family..This is my home away from home..I make colorful masks to brighten someone’s day and to make sure that we all come back together when all this virus business is done.

One of our doctors had a friend living in China contact him; his daughter is in the US completing college. As college campuses were closing and flights were being cancelled, this young person had limited options. Doctor drove to the East Coast to pick up his own daughter and made a stop in Ohio to pick up the friend’s daughter – and he has been hosting her since that time..

Even with classrooms dark across the state, a bright light shines from within Cindy Foss’ fifth grade classroom at Xavier Middle School. A Fork Farms Flex Farm named “Brooke”, as the students call it, is producing over 20 pounds of fresh leafy greens. Thanks to a special caretaker, Facilities Director Joe Linsmeier, the Flex Farm continues to grow healthy food. The food grown from the Flex Farm is being donated to the St. Joseph Food Program to support their healthy food distributions.

With the sudden closure of dorms, the son of one of our doctors spent a week packing and shipping his college friends’ personal items to them. The announcement came during spring break and many students had returned home for a visit..
